Stir fried cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and seaweed

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Cauliflower always go well with broccoli, in fact, I think these two vegetables belong together in the same veggie family.

Carrots also tastes great with cauliflower.  So, the only thing I see that stands out from this dish are the seaweed chunks.  Hmm…the chef used to only put these in cold appetitzer salad dishes.  Anyhow, this dish looks colorful and healthy, and it's super delicious too.  If you have a plate of this, I bet you're well on your way to fulfill your veggie serving for the day. :)

Sauteed green pepper and eggplants

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

This is a very delicious dish.  As you may have noticed, we cook lots of dishes with eggplants.  Well, eggplants are good for you!  Eat them!  Green peppers go super well with eggplants, you can also subsitute green pepper with red pepper or yellow pepper, any of those healthy bell peppers will do.  (careful not to use the spicy ones, this dish is meant to be soothing)

Potato and Eggplant Stew

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

Soft, healthy, filling and super yummy!  =)

I believe this dish takes a long time (at least 30 minutes) to make because it takes a while for the eggplants to get really soft.  I like potatos, potato chunks are delicious!

Stir Fried Bean Curd with Seaweed, Cabbage and Carrots

In case you haven't noticed, I love tofu and just about all things related to tofu!  This is one awesome dish, one of the chef's new creations too. ^_________^

Stir fried Asparagus, Mushrooms, Carrots and Onions

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

This is one healthy dish.  My guess is that the chef just found whatever is left in the fridge that is considered vegetables and threw it all together.

It's delicious though~   A successful mix of green veggies!

Tried it!  If you are feeling creative, you might want to throw in a few other vegetables you have available.  The main ingredients in addition to the veggies are probably just oil and salt. Work your magic with the frying pan!  GO GO GO

Stir Fried Shitake Mushroom and Pork

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

For this recipe, you need to get shitake mushrooms.  Of course, in the freezing cold land of Canada, shitake mushrooms are often only available in dried form and packaged in bags.

Once you get these dried mushrooms, you need to soak them in water for a couple hours.  Here's a picture of the soaking process:

Once the mushrooms are aready, this dish's other important ingredient comes in: Pork.

The Chef only uses top grade lean meat.  I'm very sensitive to fat parts of the meat and I love this dish.

YUMMY!

Stired Fried Tomato with Lettuce

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

Americans eat raw lettuce,it's put in salads, as part of a bigger meal or put in sandwiches.  However, in China, lettuce is always cooked in dishes!  It would be strange to eat raw vegetables unless they're part of a cold salad appetizer, even in that case, they're usually limited to tomatoes and cucumbers.

This dish is really good, you should try it. It's simple to make too, simply put together small slices of lettuce and tomato chunks, just like how you would prepare a salad. Then put the prepared vegetables in the frying pan, pour in some vinegar and a tiny bit of sugar. Stir the vegetables until they're done.

Cucumber and Cold Bean Noodles with Special Hot Sauce Salad

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

If you're from the Southern part of China, you will be very familiar with this dish.  Made of freshly cut cucumber slices, thin layers of cold rice noodles ( I have no clue how to call this thing in English, the Chinese name is Liang Fen) and specially mixed sauce consisting of all sorts of oil ingredients as well as specks of hot peppers.

The picture you see above is the unmixed version with all the ingredients laid out, you're suppose to mix everything in, make sure the sauce is well blended before serving it.  :)   This is one of my favorite appetitzers, we grew the hot peppers ourselves~

Stir Fried Egg and Tomato *Sweet*

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

This dish is suppose to be served with a tint of sweetness and maybe a bit sourness?

I used to get it from this fast Chinese food place every week near school.

Stir Fried Winter Melon with Shrimp

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Healthy dish. Very very good for you.  A great dish to have together along with rice and perhaps congee.

The shrimp you can get in dried form in bags from just about any supermarket.  You can use them for soup, add a bit for dishes here and there, a must have for any kitchen!
